Hurricane Damage - 2004

Because Hardy Farms is located in central Florida, we were in the direct path of 2 of the 4 hurricanes that struck Florida in 2004. Hardy Farms lost over 30,000 container palm trees and 700 mature Washingtonia palm trees during the 4 hurricanes. Additionally, we lost 2 greenhouses and 20,000 seedlings that were the majority of our new 2004 crop. We also had major damage to our fences, roadways, canals and ditches. We lost over 100 large pine and oak trees that were naturally growing around our various fields. Fortunately, none of the big trees hit our buildings. Ten of our employees spent four months just to clean-up the disaster damage. At the close of the year, we estimate that we were 80% complete with the clean-up and we are retuning to normal operations.
